Review of Ernest & Celestine (2012) by Ethan L — 13 Jul 2014
Exquisitely animated and thoroughly charming, Ernest & Celestine is a happy, offbeat feel-good tale that is fit for the whole family. Wonderful voice acting (particularly from Lambert Wilson) and sweetly drawn characters deliver that cosy feeling, which makes one think of classic from childhood.
It's warm pastel colours lend it a subtle vibrance at times, reminiscent of the watercolour painting of Isao Takahata's "My Neighbours the Yamadas," and it's every bit as good as Studio Ghibli.
That's not an overstatement.
