Review of Erin Brockovich (2000) by Anna V — 15 Dec 2008
Excellent movie about this women's life.
Julia Roberts is beautiful, in 1 of her best roles ever, easily.
Aaron Eckhart is very good too. It's fun to see him with those long beard and hairs. Hard to think it's for example mr Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight. Lol.
I love also the music, that I bought just after having saw the movie in theatre. It's the great Thomas Newman, from who I love also the scores of Pay it Forward, The Green Mile, American Beauty, FInding Nemo... He has a style that u recognize very fast, when he use instruments that u don't hear so often in movies' musics, like marimba.
I love also some of the dialogues, so well written. For example when she give all the numbers to George, thinking he'll not call her with all these.
It's a great dialogue!
I can't believe it's rated R in USA, and for 14 y. old in Canada, 15 in UK, when u can go from 7 in my Switzerland to see it, and even 6 y. old in Germany.
But the censorship is sooooo much harder, severe in USA or UK, it's not a scoop. Look at an italian, french, or swiss movie, if u wanna know how boobs and ass, and even sex look like. And I'm of course not talking about porno, neither erotic, but of movies u can see from 14 or 16, depends.
And same about the mean words that u don't have to wait 18 years to hear in movies, when if there aren't too much physic violence or nudity, u can see a movie full of insults since maybe 10; depends of course of the other parameters.
Cause here, we know that no 1 kid don't know those words when he's older than 5-6.
Anyway, very good movie, very good surprise, and moving true story, showing us 1 more time how the power of money is way more important than human lives and health.
Fucking society, fucking world!
