Review of Erin Brockovich (2000) by Katherine P — 11 Apr 2011
Superb. For something that began from a worn-out premise, Brockovich could easily have turned into another b-movie Roberts flick - thankfully, it will surprise even the toughest sceptics. Finney and Roberts deliver some of the most memorable performances of their careers and the fact that this inspirational story stems from an actual case makes it all the more effective.
It's an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end and a triumph for Soderbergh as he's managed to create one of the most endearing film heroines in recent years.
