Review of Erin Brockovich (2000) by Eugene B — 25 Mar 2015
I don't need pity. I need a paycheck.
Erin Brockovich is a single mother with three children that struggles to maintain a job and find sustainable daycare based on her income. She is involved in an accident one day that puts her in touch with a lawyer. The lawyer gives her a job after the case and their lives change forever.
"As long as I have one ass instead of two, I'll wear what I like.".
Steven Soderbergh, director of Traffic, Ocean's 11-13, Magic Mike, Haywire, Contagion, Side Effects, Full Frontal, and Solaris, delivers Erin Brockovich. The storyline for this picture is very interesting and relatively unpredictable. I enjoyed the evolution of the characters. The acting was very well done and the cast includes Julia Roberts, Albert Finney, David Brisbin, Dawn Didawick, and Jack Gill.
"You think if you have no uterus, no breasts, you're actually a woman?".
I came across this on HBOGO and had to watch it. This is one of those movies I hadn't seen but felt extremely guilty for having not seen it. This was excellent and a very entertaining and well done picture. I thought Roberts was perfect and this was definitely worth a viewing.
"I'm smart, I'm hardworking, and I'm not leaving here without a job.".
Grade: A.
