Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Stephen P — 04 Nov 2012
Eerie, dark, surreal, disturbing. Excellent. David Lynch's first full length film delves into the mind of fear and uncertainty with strange, achingly painful yet elegant scenery and ambiguity that defines his later works.
Walking a fine line between dreams/nightmares and horror Eraserhead does extremely well to capture the terrors of parenthood that the main character feels but never personally expresses. Nothing is obvious as expected with a David Lynch film, a contributing quality that makes cinema interesting and riveting.
