Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Lord N — 17 Sep 2010
Call me crazy but this feels alot like something Paul Schrader would've written. This movie deals with fear and paranoia from a man's point of view in a very disturbing, personal way. Its not supposed to be completely understood.
The character of Henry Spencer is basically living in a nightmare. Where his fears and anxieties are warped and elevated to jarring heights. Lynch's direction is brilliant. The way he uses sound with secondary objects in the background is an absolute work of art.
Wouldn't recommend this to newcomers of Lynch but I believe this to be his best work.
