Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Daniel K — 24 Oct 2010
I watched eraserhead at my friend's house last week. It had an incredible dark setting, and very little dialogue, which made it all the more disturbing. The title character is Henry, who finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, and the baby that they have is alien looking, but I believe that this is just a representation to Henry on how unfamiliar parenthood and children are to him.
It was incredibly creepy but at the same time David Lynch captures the fear that most people have about going into parenthood, which is unfamiliar territory. I would recommend this movie to all devoted movie watchers, as it is something entirely original that you will have never seen before, and the musical score and emphasized sound effects have a very deep effect on those of you who watch it with the sound up loud. You will either love it or hate it, but at the end it will change the way you look at independent films.
