Review of Eraser (2014) by Christopher L — 02 Jan 2009
Demolition Man - Here's a futuristic action film that sports a series of innovative touches yet lacks any real punch and runs far too long. Stallone and Snipes are worthy adversaries and are enjoyable to watch, but by the end the whole thing feels a bit ho-hum and surprisingly preachy. ** (out of ****) C.
Desperado - Robert Rodriguez's Desperado is an opera of violence - violence as art. I loved every single bloody, over-the-top action sequence. Why a 7/10 then? Well, the story's not much to speak of. Banderas, though, is a badass, and I adore him in this film. *** (out of ****) B.
Enemy of the State - A very fun big-brother-is-gonna-getcha thriller that runs a bit too long but begins and ends wonderfully. Tony Scott's films, though, are a bit too familiar. *** (out of ****) B.
Entrapment - This one's a silly and boring heist flick with a couple of extraordinary scenes bust mostly dumb dialogue and fear of Connery's back giving out. ** (out of ****) C.
Eraser - One of the worst Schwarzenegger actioners with one of the worst choices in leading ladies ever or an action film, Chuck Russell's Eraser is just about as lame as this sort of flick gets. It's too long, it's ridiculously plotted and it ends on just as ludicrous a note as anyone could possibly imagine. Still, there's a bit of fun, so it gets *1/2 (out of ****), which is a C-.
