Review of Eraser (2014) by Russell G — 04 Mar 2012
For the most part it was an entertaining action movie that I enjoyed, but it lacks that something special to make it special. The story characters and setting are not too deep or developed but they work well enough in this case.
Most of the movie is well done with good special effects for the time, but it is marred by a few painful reality gaps involving giant CGI alligators and a ridiculous parachute scene that was just too farfetched.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is on top of his game and does a great job, doing what he does best by playing a strong protective figure. Vanessa Williams is attractive but does not offer a whole lot more, which is not the end of the world, but I am not so wild about the choice of James Caan in his role.
In the end it does not offer too many big surprises it lacks depth, but the movie entertains with plenty of action and does what it is made to do.
