Review of Eragon (2006) by Alexey S — 26 Feb 2013
Not an accurate review, since the story of the movie is based in the book written by Christopher paolini, and though a similarity is shared with The Lord of the Rings and slightly with StarWars, this movie sadly butchered many characters and the basic plot of the book, coming to a finale in which the story is completely changed.
All in all, the movie stands up for itself if it wasn't based in the book by Paolini. If it would've stocked more to the basic story of the book, it would've ended up to be a magnificent fantasy movie, even more so with the high resolution animation and labour that is now a days used in film making.
The book has so much potential in the description of scenery, cities, etc., that if the studio had stocked more to the book, it would've been a great success.. Then again pity it turned up to be such a disappointment, it would seem that the studio was concerned in saving some money and filming time.
.. Maybe the sequel, Eldest, given due time and effort, and correcting somehow the monumental mistakes made in this first movie, could live up to the expectations many have of the saga...
