Review of Eragon (2006) by Mikaela H — 25 Mar 2014
I thought that the books were VERY well thought out and written. I would never have guessed that a teenager was the author with such a complex plot and character development. That being said, I was VERY excited when I heard that they were turning the book into a movie.
I expected it to be as well done as the LOTR movies and was very anxious to see it. However, I was extremely disappointed with the final result from the poor screenwriting, to Major scenes and locations left out, bad dialogue and makeup, and unimaginative sculpting on the dragon and the Urgals - just to name a few.
It was nowhere near the high quality that it should have been. It was clearly a low-budget effort done by a director with little or no experience with the fantasy genre. I wish that Peter Jackson had been the one to do this movie, and if it ever gets remade, I hope that it is either him (Peter Jackson) or a director of the same caliber that mans the project.
I also wish the same thing if they ever make any sequels of the movie. Despite, all that, I did enjoy it, but it would/could have been millions of times better!!
