Review of Eragon (2006) by Ovi G — 28 Sep 2011
Re-Review 30.09.2011.
Had the "pleasure" to re-watch Eragon at a random local tv channel the other day, second time i've watched it, I even forgot it existed. I remember first time I was impressed with the sfx, the dragon indeed was breathtaking, but noticed far better now that the plot and acting is rubbish. I don't really know who this Ed Speleers is, but he's not film material, you either are or aren't.
But ok decided to give the story a chance, which eventually succeeds in trapping you in it's twines, but only with the help of a somewhat decent Jeremy Irons, the dragon and her voice and Sienna Guillory. Why I like her so damn much, why I think she's got what it takes to achieve a higher status, I have no idea, but she is great. And of course one or two scenes which I dare say are great, not the effectsthemselves but the whole scenes top to bottom, are unique and...magical.
Sadly it's lacking depth and more actor material, it lacks bigtime, other than that it's a rather an ok fantasy/adventure relaxing mildly enjoyable family film. Have fun!
Peace!
