Yes it's derivative, yes it follows a few well trodden paths but you know what, look up there at the top. Critics hate it but audiences (you know, those that the film is actually made for) actually quite like it.
The story is basic but good, the acting is of a high quality and is in keeping with the genre (i.e. they were mugging away like good 'uns) and the special effects were excellent.
Does what it says on the tin (as an old ad logo in the U.K. would put it).
