Review of Equus (1977) by Willem W — 14 Dec 2007
A very powerful and able adaptation of Peter Shaffer's dynamite stage play. Burton is unusually strong here, making the best of the ruin he turned himself into through alcohol abuse. Here, his hangdog looks, growly voice, and defeated demeanour all combine for a deeply moving and sympathetic performance.
