Review of Equilibrium (2002) by Ruben V — 07 Mar 2014
I like the world build and it kept me engaged throughout the film. Even though certain parts slow down there was a lot of tension. The storyline has anticipation that drives the plot. It was interesting that they had their own gun martial arts based on mathematics and physics.
It was a little bit different than I expected because it has a different spin on martial arts that it's not a kung foo movie. It has an interesting combination of dystopian/political thriller/modern elements.
Christian Bale played a good role in expressing emotions through the premise that the government is controlling everyone to not show their emotions. I feel like it was more story-driven than character driven but I still felt for the character because of the emotion side to it.
It would have been more impactful if there was more backstory of the character. It was more about his role as an law enforcer than his personal life.
