Review of Equilibrium (2002) by Ovi G — 08 Jul 2011
Re-review 09 july 2011.
Equilibrium was one of my favorite films almost ten years ago. I was admiring in awe the amazing utopic pure sci-fi universe created, a perfect (an overstatement of course) utopia that always hides underneath it's "sheets" something or someone willing to go against the constant oppressing system and start a fight for freedom.
In my books, Christian Bale proved his magnitude in American Psycho, this film only consolidated his position as a growing top notch actor. Watching this after such a long time and still be in awe is a feeling i'd like to experience more often from recent productions, they're rare unfortunately. Even though Matrix was the protagonist of the slo-mo combat action shots, Equilibrium still managed to re-create it's own unique way of fighting and special effects.
It seems somehow familiar but getting lost quickly within the incredible depth of the story you'll find amazing potential and a possible unique experience.
Definitely one to remember and honestly, this shouldn't go by overlooked. It's worth every second. Enjoy!
Peace out!
