Review of Epic (2013) by Leon B — 30 Nov 2013
Review:
This movie did look great and the colours were amazing in HD, but the storyline was a bit weak, along with the main characters who were a bit annoying. The slugs were funny, but the it lacked humour for me. I know that it is basically made for kids, and I did find the baddie quite scary for the young ones, but there was nothing that really stood out in the movie. It's not the type of film were you would go out and buy all of the toys and the figures, because it doesn't really give you a chance to relate to the character like many other animated movies do. Maybe I'm just being picky! Anyway, it's a very average movie that won't go down as a classic but it's watchable.
Round-Up:
There seems to be a lack of great animated movies nowadays which is due to weak storyline's and the time that it takes to make them. There is a lot of attention to detail in the movie, which looked great, but it seems like they spent all of there time on the look more than the script. Anyway, as the animated movie world has kind of died down at the moment, this movie did come out at the right time and judging by the money it made, the kids must have flocked to the cinema to watch it. I wasn't expecting something better, but it wasn't bad and I will be putting to keep the kids quiet.
Budget: $100million.
Worldwide Gross: $261million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there heroic animated movies mini characters in the woods, fighting evil. 4/10.
