Review of Epic (2013) by Amy B — 02 Dec 2013
Epic is the latest offering from Blue Sky studios, the studio behind Rio and Ice Age. MK (Amanda Seyfried) heads out to the sticks to visit her father (Jason Sudeikis) after years of living in the city to find a man on a mission to discover an advanced civilisation of small people that live in the forest. MK is all but ignored by her father and she decides to leave, the Hobby of his being too much for her, her fathers obsession also ruined the relationship between her parents,.
After events leave the forest without its protector MK is thrown into the tiny world of talking bugs, talking flowers and tiny leaf people and given the task of protecting the only thing that can save the forest and those living in it.
Epic is a fun filled family friendly movie, with laughs and action appropriate for all ages. Mub and Grub (Aziz Ansari and Chris O'Dowd) bring the laughs through out and are great together and Ozzy the adorable 3 legged dog also deserves a mention for his slobbery kisses and hyperactive tendencies.
We experienced the film in 3d, whilst yes it was pretty I didn't really see the point in it. I didn't really experience any big moments that came out at you during the film. So for me, personally I'd stick to the 2d version for a more comfortable viewing experience.
