Review of Epic (2013) by Mike T — 15 Jul 2014
Didn't find this familiar, it was very very inspiring, shocking in a good way, jaw-dropping, and moving... in a very good way. It was much more than solid, as this movie blows away any of the clichéd summer blockbusters like Man of Steel, World War Z.
I used to think those movies were good, then I saw this movie, and it was SO MUCH BETTER. Beautiful acting, and a eclectic and swashbuckling mix of very very nice, thoughtful potent characters that will amaze and blow you away, with their decisions and actions.
The movie even has fight scenes, but done in a sort of different way, that I have never seen before. I loved the medium-small use of orchestral music, the mind-blowing moral madness, the beauty, the art, the craft, the 3d, the suspense, the terror, the evil, the good, the characters, the grandoir, the humbleness and the length.
All those aspects of the movie were perfect. This is a better movie than a lot of the amazing 9/10 movies I've seen, and pretty much is my new instant classic favorite movie. This had so much more than you usually get in well-acted, sweet movies.
This movie really tried to be better than well acted and sweet, and it succeeds and makes it that much more of an experience, for people that like things that are done with brilliance.
