Review of Epic (2013) by Ana B — 17 Nov 2014
Teenager MK goes to live in the countryside with his father, Dr. Bomba, a scientist obsessed with the existence of tiny people populating the forest. This belief has driven MK, and her mother away from him. After a few minutes at her father's home MK decides that co-existence is impossible; but when she is leaving she encounters the queen of the tiny people (The leafmen) mortally wounded handing her over a flower pod that is supposed to save the forest from the Boggans, putrefying agents enemies of the Leafmen. In a twist MK finds herself trying to save the forest with the help of two soldiers, Ronin and Nod, a slug and a snail. But will she be in time to expose the pod to the full moon?
A classic good against evil plot that will delight the young ones despite the far fetched story of the Leafmen and the Boggans. The 3D images are beautifully crafted giving an almost real feel to a very fantastic setting. It is a film from the creators of Ice Age but not quite as good but it has enough substance to keep you entertained to the end with the help of the jokes of the snail and the slug.
