Review of Entrapment (1999) by J K — 27 Jun 2010
Upon a second viewing of this film, 11 years after my first viewing, I must say this film still has an interesting charm to it. There are very, very, very few 60-year old men who have been able to pull off the sexy machismo that Sean Connery has been able to do in the latter half of his career and this role is no exception.
His chemistry with Catherine Zeta-Jones was what made this film worth a viewing. Zeta-Jones reminds us why we fell in love with her all those years ago. The training sequences with the red yarn could've woken up a dead man, instead of the elderly Connery, who even then still looked great.
The suspense and story were good and all the double-crossing and secret agendas are done superbly. The only real issue I had with this film was at the very end when Connery's character, a 60-year old character mind you, somehow leaps over a passing train in the train station and lands BEHIND Zeta-Jones in a matter of seconds.
I don't care if Connery was on steroid-laced Viagra, there is no way in hell a 60-year old could do that. Sorry.
