Review of Entrapment (1999) by Shawn C — 12 Nov 2011
Don't know what it is about this film that critics panned. I am only mildly knowledgeable of heist films and so it's possible that I missed a few of the cliches people are pointing out. To be fair, I found the film somewhat boring and the plot difficult to follow sometimes.
Catherine Zeta-Jones was at her prime in this movie, but Sean Connery's performance slipped a little. As a matter of fact, Connery seemed out-of-place at times. Do all thieves have to be sophisticated and suave? He could have implemented a more original interpretation of the character of "Mac".
And the Connery/Zeta Jones relationship was...embarrassing to watch. No chemistry at all. Overall, not a bad movie, but not a good one either.
