Review of Entourage (2015) by Omar L — 12 Jun 2015
The HBO series "Entourage" has a sentimental place in my heart: it was one of the series that I binged while deployed in Baghdad. What got me hooked on the series was the camaraderie between the four guys and Ari, and that loyalty was extremely appealing to watch.
The movie continues the series, and it really is just an extended episode of Entourage. That's both a good and bad thing; good in that it's like coming home, bad in that the stakes don't seem any higher than any other episode. Newcomers to these characters would have a difficult time understanding how exactly Vincent Chase (played by pretty-face-and-not-much-else Adrian Grenier) could possibly have the talent that everyone in this universe claims he has. But because Vince's talent is an informed ability, we can just accept that and move on to what really matters: will E find love? Will Drama get his big break? Will Turtle ever get respect? Will Ari maintain his social status AND his marriage? The movie only works if you care at all about these characters. For these characters that I got to know when I was half-a-world away from home, I do care.
