A preposterously bad adaptation of the TV series, serving as solidifying evidence for a continued decline in the show's quality. Whatever satirical humour that could be found in the Larry Clarke-influenced early seasons is now long gone, replaced by the boyish vacuities of fame and cringingly derivative drama. It's fucking terrible. Doug Ellin may as well be a 14 year-old kid with an unhealthy celebrity obsession and a blank cheque. He either doesn't care about or understand what made the series popular to begin with: witty satire and brotherly companionship. The latter is aimed for but severely missed thanks to his unbelievably amateur choices and control of plot. It's not like he had much of an edge to begin with; the successful elements of the TV series were rarely down to him alone. But his directing of the film is markedly worse than his direction of TV episodes, to the point where I was wondering whether he'd been intimidated by the movie-set camera rigs or if he'd had a fucking lobotomy. Whatever the case, after seeing this I wouldn't mind if a Native-American Chief suffocated him before throwing a toilet through a window in an effort to escape watching any more of this bullshit.

Easily the worst film I've seen this year.
