Review:

This movie just seemed like a long episode of the series really! The only difference is the film star, Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), wants to direct his own movie, so he turns to his long time agent, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), to see if he can get funds for the project. With his close friends Eric (Kevin Conolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Johnny (Kevin Dillon), by his side, he plans an extravagant event to screen some of the movie to an exclusive audience and he tries to get more money from the budget supplier, Larsen (Billy Bob Thornton), so he can complete the movie. As Larsen isn't really into the whole Hollywood scene, he sends his son Travis (Haley Joel Osment), to the screening but when one of them sleeps with a girl that he really likes, he turns down the extra funding and he puts in a request to get Vincent and Johnny taken out of the movie, even though Vincent is directing it. While all of this drama is going on, Turtle hooks up with a butch boxer, Eric gets back with his pregnant ex-girlfriend and Vince and Johnny just carry on enjoying the single life. Anyway, when Larsen finds out why Travis wanted to cut the funding for the movie, he agrees to give them the money so they can finish there movie. There are some funny moments in the film which made me chuckle but there wasn't much depth to the storyline. It just seemed like a bunch of spoilt, rich teenagers living the lavish life in Hollywood and sleeping with loads of beautiful women. I've always liked Jeremy Pivens character, Ari Gold, in the series because of his blunt and straight to the point persona and you do get to see a more of a human side of him but the rest of the usual characters are, more or less, the same. There are loads of famous cameos throughout the movie so it seemed like "Spot the Star" at one point and you can't help feeling envious of there young and free lifestyle but I still was expecting more from this movie after hearing all of the hype that surrounded it. Average!

Round-Up:

Haley Joel Osment has changed so much since his earlier appearances in the Sixth Sense, "I see dead people", Forrest Gump as Forrest's son, A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Pay It Forward and he seems to have gone for a strange grunge, scruffy look which really doesn't suit him. The whole weight problem can be overlooked because we all have our sweet tooth demons but his greasy hair and old looks, for a 27 year old, really surprised me when I saw him in Sex Ed, which had a great soundtrack. I know that a lot of these young, childhood stars have a problem breaking into the mainstream when they get older, like Macaulay Culkin and Corey Feldman from the Goonies, so I can understand why he has gone for an older look but he was a terrific actor when he was young and he was sooooo cute. Anyway, this movie was directed by Doug Ellin who also directed 6 episodes of the series and Kissing A Fool with David Schwimmer. I wasn't that surprised with the outcome because the characters haven't developed that much from the series and I found it quite entertaining in parts but it wasn't anything amazing.

Budget: $30million.

Worldwide Gross: $44.5million.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their drama/comedies starring Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven. 4/10.
