The big question might be if you need to have watched the #HBO series to enjoy the movie. Happily, you donâ(TM)t. Like #theXFiles, #StarTrek, and #Serenity (the #FireFly movie), you can enjoy this movie without ever having watched the TV series in which itâ(TM)s based. In the case of #Entourage, the first scenes smartly fill you in on who everyone is and what we should know about them.
Overall, this is a funny movie giving an insiderâ(TM)s view of Hollywood. As it should be, the large number of cameos makes it all authentic. The plot centers around Vinceâ(TM)s (#AdrianGrenier) return to filmmaking after a brief retirement (I assume thatâ(TM)s how the series ended). He muscles his former agent, #AriGold (#JeremyPiven), now a studio head, to allow him to direct his next picture. Along for the ride are the titular Entourage Eric (#KevinConnolly), #JohnnyDrama (#KevinDillon), and Turtle (#JerryFerrara). #BillyBobThornton and #HaleyJoelOsment (of #theSixthSense (???!!!) play the father/son financiers.
This is one of those films where you can tell that the actors are having a good time and you canâ(TM)t help but enjoy it along with them. Makes me want to go back and watch the TV series.
Bottomline: worth seeing. No need to have seen the series to enjoy.
My score: #8outof10.
