Review of Entourage (2015) by Maksim B — 15 Oct 2015
A most welcome extension of the successful series, Entourage is an entertaining Hollywood fantasy which would not only satisfy the fans of the TV episodes, but it would probably win some more fans among those who have not seen the HBO series. If one has no idea of what Entourage is about, the first 30 minutes of Doug Ellin's delivery would be quite shocking but also refreshingly entertaining while he/she is introduced to the characters. The fans of the series would just perceive the movie as a 104 minute-long episode.
This is probably Entourage's biggest problem as well. It never feels as a coherent movie with a complete story, but as just one longer episode. Yet, the unique characters, slick dialogues and Hollywood absurdity manage to save the date and to make this comedy one of the better and watchable fun rides of summer 2015. You would particularly enjoy Jeremy Piven's performance as the Producer/Manager Ari Gold who turns out to be probably the biggest asset of Doug Ellin's movie.
Even if you have no idea of the series and the story behind the characters (just like me) you would be satisfied with Entourage's cockiness, arrogance and Hollywood-parody if you are open for a raw and slightly offending comedy. Give it a try at home with some beers and popcorns.
