Review of Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005) by John B — 14 Nov 2016
According to Flixster, 100% of my friends are not interested in seeing this movie.
My friends are douchebags.
This is an extremely entertaining and illuminating (especially for financially semi-literate folks like myself) expose of the business and political conditions which allowed a Goliath like Enron to collapse so scandalously.
Director Alex Gibney handles the often difficult and complex material deftly, and turns what could have been a boring, pointy-headed jargonfest into a riveting and artful piece of work, complete with righteous indignation.
This important film is all the more compelling in light of the current global financial crisis, and the dodgy business, banking, accounting, legal and government practices that helped to land us all in it.
