Review of Enola Holmes (2020) by Healingtoolbox — 25 Nov 2020
Cinema used to entertain, done with consummate craftsmanship on all levels. I agree with the positive pro reviews here. The break teh fourth wall gambits do increase the narrative energy, at least with this wonderful lead actress.
The sufragette plotline breaks the 4th wall but without it you have only Masterpiece Theater. If you liked Young Sherlock Holmes, this has nearly the same verve and dynamism. Shout out to the convincing villany of Burn Gorham.
I also think part of the verve of the cinematography is due to a smaller, lighter stedicam camera. If it was shot on an Iphone this would not surprise me either. Looks great and many unexpected camera angles used well.
