Ritchie's two Holmes, those of 2009 and 2011 with Downey Jr. and Law, were kept afloat by the director's visual intuitions. In this for now new diptych by Bradbeer there is nothing comparable, you forget it while watching it because until proven otherwise it is still cinema and not social propaganda, therefore the trend of updating to the new criteria of civil equality cannot be enough changing gender and ethnicity of 100 year old characters (btw: there were no gays, lesbians, trans, queers. Unforgivable).
