Tony Scott's usual super-crazy, super-fast cutting and montage vibe started to really take shape in this movie. Will Smith does his normal thing. It's really Gene Hackman who brings it home here.
Once he shows up, the movie jumps up several notches. His character, clearly a callback to his character in The Conversation, cranks up the paranoia and super-confident spycraft. Capturing the fear of modern technology, government breaches of privacy, and our heightened connectivity the movie keeps things tense and exciting.
A good ensemble cast helps. Worth a watch if you're looking for a fun modern action movie, or if you want to see a good Hackman performance.
