Review of Enemy of the State (1998) by Ben R — 16 Apr 2013
For 1998:
A very intense, heartpounding non-stop thriller.
The whole watch is very much a chase movie.
Will Smith is remarkable in the lead role along with Gene Hackman, they make a tough partnership.
Tony Scott also amazingly plays with the governmental conspiracy theories.
He tackles topical issues such as surveillance, recording, phone tapping etc.
This plot is pretty intelligent and it almost could be realistic at some point in our lives.
All kinds of phobias about who's watching us and listening in on our conversations.
There's also some terrific action during the pursuits and the film takes the viewer for the ride.
Good hi-tech stuff has talented actors, too.
