Review of Enemy of the State (1998) by John V — 02 May 2012
A very smart and intelligent thriller that is definitely worth a watch. Will Smith is very good in a serious role and carries the convictions and emotions of his character with sheer charisma. The story is very clever and always has an unexpected little twist here and there with a very clever ending scene.
The stunts and action scenes are brilliant and show how technology really can carry the advantage. The chases with Will against highly trained 'soldiers' and smart Teckies is brilliant and delivers some high octane thrills and suspense.
Even though the running time seems long I assure you it goes quickly because you are so captivated by the 'one man against the world plot' that you are eager for whatever comes next. This has a very interesting premise that has a variety of positives under it's belt to carry the weight and serves well as a very unique conspiracy tale.
Overall a smart and interesting thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.
