Review of Enemy of the State (1998) by Mike L — 27 Jul 2012
I wonder if the NRA helped produce this movie. It is the conspiracy fantasy example that the NRA hypes so you go out and buy that semi-auto rifle with 500 rounds for when the government comes knocking on your door.
Almost any movie with Gene Hackman is watchable and this is an example where he lifts a mundane chase movie into one that can be watched on repeated viewings. Will Smith plays the dumb teen from any slasher movie, you know the one where the one smart person in the movie says "hey dont go in that dark room" and they go in the dark room yea that's Smiths character except he is a dumb lawyer which is about the same thing.
The chase in the movie is propelled by every time Hackman tells Smith not to do something of course Smith does it so the government can track them an continue the chase.
The movie ends in an NRA dream scenario where everyone pulls out their concealed weapon and unloads 100 rounds each and one person is left alive.
A movie to stop and watch if its the 4th hour of repeating Sportcenter.
