Review of Enemy at the Gates (2001) by Kyle S — 01 Nov 2008
This is a pretty good war movie. I liked it. It's about snipers. That's different.
But I did find it kind of funny and also annoying that the four main Russian characters were played by English actors -- who did nothing to try to mask their English accents. Then you've got the main German who sounds like he's from--Oh! Surprise!--New Jersey.
It seemed odd to me that they'd invest as much money as they obviously did into a movie like this but not even attempt to make the characters sound native. Or, you know, pick Russian actors ("What?! Russians can act?!").
Also, the love story was pretty...uh...weak.
