Review of Enemy at the Gates (2001) by Samuel C — 18 Jun 2010
Russian veterans don?t like this movie much. They even wanted it banned in Russia. It never was.
With quite well written but sometimes unreal story (which is actually based on a real story but was turned into something like fairytale) this movie has amazing acting, impressive episodes and, let me be honest, completely ?Unrussian? concept. Maybe some ?American? wars were like that but II World War in Russia was totally different. It wasn?t about love ? it was all about life and death.
But after all, it?s a nice try and it?s kind of even better then Russian movies about the very same war.
