Review of Enemy (2014) by Teddywyman — 20 Aug 2017
One of the best movies I've ever seen. It has the perfect balance of being open to interpretation while still maintaining central messages and themes that are objectively being driven across. Every single scene, shot, word, etc.
in this movie somehow plays into the overarching idea, and so when you're done watching and you have time to digest it you immediately want to watch it again so that you can decipher it more thoroughly and pick up on things you missed.
It's also very unique, as it was unlike any movie I'd ever seen before while still following the roots of any psychological thriller. Beyond that, it's a quick 90 minutes so it doesn't drag, it has a very eerie tone and a dark color scheme, it will certainly keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat, and it's very well put together.
Jake Gyllenhaal kills it, as do the supporting cast. If you aren't a fan of complicated movies with hidden messages, or if you want fast-paced action as opposed to slow-burning suspense, then this movie might not be for you.
However, of the movies that are like that, this is certainly one of the best ever. Absolutely loved it.
