Review of Ender's Game (2013) by Matthew K — 10 Apr 2014
Ender's Game is a love it or hate it kind of movie. Sadly, its falls to the latter for me. This movie suffers from horrible pacing, wooden acting, terrible excuses for action, a confusing plot, and an even more awful script.
Although I have not read the book, I cannot say if it is unfaithful, I am probably going to assume the book is better. Anyway, this movie takes itself way more serious than it is. Great actors like Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley star as wooden, one dementional characters.
And the way Ender's character is protrayed will annoy throughout your viewing. And even worse is the forced dramatic sequences. No spoilers, but don't expect much. The only saving graces in this movie (yes, a movie, not a film), are the incredible score and CGI.
Ender's Game is an overlong, painful excuse for an action/sci fi thriller. Try to avoid this movie.
