Nothing exceptional here, but solid enough sci-fi that is very faithful to the book it is based on.

Essentially sci-fi for teens, it's a bit 'by the numbers' most of the time, but it is at least a bit different from a lot of other films within the genre, and the concept is well imagined and depicted on screen. The film does actually get better as it reaches it climax, and it is not the ending you expect (without giving anything away!). Pretty good stuff.
