As Sci Fi films go, no this isn't the best. However, as a fan of the book in my youth, this film brought back all the memories I had while reading the book, is the film completely accurate to the book, no.
Is it close enough, did they accurately tell the story, I would have to say yes. Was the special effects good? Amazingly. Did the music add feeling to the movie? YES. I personally recommend the movie to anyone who has read the book.
