Review of Ender's Game (2013) by Riccardo T — 09 Oct 2014
Harry Potter in Outer Space.
A sci-fi movie for kids, featuring a group of young boys and girls, enrolled in a "War School" to prepare them to fight mysterious bug-like enemies that we never get to see directly. Battles are fought using virtual reality, students are trained through games, and instead of flight simulators they use tablets (!!!). The main character is as expressive and rich in personality as a dead dog, and Harrison Ford should just retire - I don't think he really needs to participate in such a dismal picture. There's a huge quantity of special effects, that fail spectacularly in conveying any sense of thrill, and just come off as empty and mechanic.
