Review of Ender's Game (2013) by David M — 05 Jan 2015
Film version of the Orson Scott Card novel, that actually sticks remarkably closely to its source novel.
OK, the kids are older here than in the book, it leaves out the whole sub-plot about Ender's brother and sister back on Earth and the particulars of the ending are changed slightly, but for all that it shares more in common with the novel than not - i.e closer to the 'Harry Potter and Philosophers Stone' end of the faithfulness spectrum than to the likes of 'Jurassic Park: The Lost World' (which seemingly only shares the name).
It's also good to see Harrison Ford back on form, and I have to say: Asa Butterfield was also a surprisingly good actor - I didn't get that annoying-wee-kid feeling from him as from some other child actors (Jake Lloyd, I'm looking at you ...).
