Review of Ender's Game (2013) by Chris L — 20 Feb 2015
Orson Scott Card believes this film is "the best that good people could do with a story they really cared about and believed in".
While much of the story follows young Ender Wiggins as he develops his strategic skills as a commander unparalleled in human history, it is also a well-worn coming of age allegory about overcoming life's hurdles on the path to adulthood.
The ethics of how one fights the battle mattering more than the victory is a timeless truth that Ender faces and spends the remainder of his time making amends for his xenocide.
It is interesting to note that the US Marine Corps has placed the novel the movie is based on on their reading list to provide useful allegory as to why militaries do what they do.
