The film is unique for two reasons (compared to the multitudes of YA formula films), it is not childish( meaning there is no comedy) and audience can get a good sci-fi experience. Te film is packed with superb visual effects and the film feels more science fiction in comparison to the many fantasy films than range from Star Wars to Divergent. Harrison Ford and especially Asa Butterfield give commendable performances. One other interesting thing is that, in the beginning itself Ender is a pro, so you don't have to watch cliches of rookie training or the naive boy gaining manliness. It's more thought provoking than the recent flicks and is a much better viewing experience.
