This is a formulaic cop film that is still watchable. It that feels a lot like Training Day (Also by Ayer). The plot itself gets ridiculous at times. At one point in the film the cops respond to a disturbance and happen upon something above their pay grade.
Later on they respond to another random call that ends up being seemingly connected to the same thing. Yes, it's trying to move the plot along but that's just sloppy.
