Review of End of Watch (2012) by Josh W — 05 Sep 2013
It felt like watching an actual cop show with two guys on patrol, having real conversations about their lives, girls, telling each other stories, and constantly picking on one another. These moments, juxtaposed with the intensity of every stop they make, make this film stand out from your typical cop drama.
Gyllenhaal and Pena share a bond that makes you want to stick with their characters in the end, and although the shaky, home-video style the film goes for may feel like a gimmick at first, it is a way to make the film feel more personal and feel like you're actually there with them as they track down cartel members and fight crime.
