Review of End of Watch (2012) by Jorel D — 22 Feb 2014
A decent ensemble cast is brought together here to represent the life in the streets of south central, particularly from two tight buddies played by Jake and Michael Pena. Equally balancing the violence that can turn on a dime with the simple moments of banter and levity you grow with the two as they do their rounds before stumbling on various crime scenes that have drug cartels links which lead to them to one disasterous night.
The hand held effect of the film for the doc that Jake is shooting within the context of the film helps add some tension to the proceedings and the believability of the friendship helps to engage the audience even if the film plays out as a go police go procedural.
