Review of End of Watch (2012) by Jacob W — 08 May 2015
I'll be honest, I've always been iffy on the whole "caught on camera" class of films, so when this movie started out as such, even though it is quite original and well done, it made me nervous as to how I'll like it.
In the end, although not completely shot in "on camera" mode, this is one incredible film carried completely by Gyllenhaal and Pena's performances and on camera chemistry. They've got the kind of chemistry that makes it hard to believe they're not real-life best friends and thus makes the film that much more lovable and inevitably heartbreaking.
(90%).
