Review of End of Watch (2012) by Ryan L — 08 Nov 2015
David Ayer's End of Watch is a gritty hard hitting cop drama with great performances, wild in your face directing, and a killer script that comes along once every few years. Gyllenhaal and Peña do a fantastic job as two partners who have a strong brotherhood. you buy every second of it. the violence is brutal and disturbing, which is common for David Ayer. the directing is insane and frenetic switching between first person and third person viewpoints. some times the directing is a little two much and it grows a little bothersome but the action scenes are perfect with this direction. the dialogue provided by Ayer's often hysterical script is amazing. one of the best cop dramas in recent years with tremendous performances, perfect dialogue, and superbly violent action scenes has a name... and it is End of Watch.
9/10.
