Review of End of Days (1999) by Johnny T — 10 Oct 2011
Loud, lurid, bloody and ridiculously entertaining. Haunting, chilling and endlessly entertaining horror thriller. Explosive non-stop action. May prove too dark to make the list of Schwarzenegger's biggest hits. Director Peter Hyams propels End of Days with a series of crash-and-burn sequences that express the archetypal link between Satan and fire. Part of the degraded charm of End of Days is its buffet-table derivative approach. But the movie suggests the actor still has a lot to offer -- and he's willing to take some chances, too. Welcome back, Arnold. A devilishly fun blow-em-up that pits The Terminator vs. The Fallen One. A wickedly cool and exhilerating thrill-ride.
VERDICT: "Matinée" - (Mixed reaction). These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says to pay matinée prices to see at a theatre, buy an ex-rental or a cheap price of the DVD to own.
